Cookie policy

On petlostboost, the cookie we set ourselves is the one that remembers the choice. We do not use this text to say that “there are no cookies at all.”

What is saved

The cookie name is plb_consent. It contains a short text: that the necessary choice is on, whether you allowed analytics, whether you allowed advertising, and the date of the choice. It is set for about 180 days, with SameSite=Lax. On an https address the Secure attribute is added as well. The same choice is copied to localStorage, under the key with the same name, as a backup if the browser does not keep the cookie.

Without JavaScript, the buttons cannot save the choice. The page content stays readable, and the menu opens from HTML. An optional tag does not start anyway, because it is not loaded.

Three categories

  • Necessary. Only the memory of the choice. It cannot be switched off from the banner, because otherwise we would ask on every page. It does not track the pages read.
  • Analytics. Prepared in the settings. We are not currently loading an analytics tag, so the category does not start a measurement program.
  • Advertising. Prepared in the settings. We are not currently loading an advertising tag in the pages. Checking the box does not display ads by itself.

Consent Mode, if it is needed

In the header of every page, a short script sets the default state: storage for ads and for analytics is denied, until a choice. No file is loaded from Google or from another provider. If a later version adds a tag, it should read this state and stay off while the category is denied. The button in the footer, “Cookie settings”, reopens the panel after you have chosen.

You can also delete the cookie from the browser settings. The banner then appears again on the next visit in which JavaScript runs. More about messages and logs is in privacy.
